ABS light on dash GM vehicles
My ABS light is on GM vehicles
If you have an ABS light on dash in your GM vehicle, don’t automatically assume it’s a major problem. Head right to the high mount stop light and see if it lights up when you step on the brake pedal. If it doesn’t light up, replace the bulb and restest.
The Electronic Brake Control Module looks for a voltage drop at the high mount stop light. If it sees the drop, the system determines that the circuit is OK. If it doesn’t see the voltage drop, it disables the ABS system and turns on the ABS light.
It’s a pretty easy fix that doesn’t require a scan tool.
