Fix no start Chrysler vehicles

No start, no keyless entry on Ram Truck, Jeep Wrangler, Avenger, Chrysler Sebring, Dodge Nitro, Jeep Liberty, Compass, Patriot, Caliber, Chrysler PT Cruiser

Chrysler has issued a technical service bulletin (TSB) 08-007-08 for a no start and no keyless entry function on these vehicles:

2006-20008 Ram Truck 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500, 5500
2007-2008 Jeep Wrangler
2007-2008 Avenger, Chrysler Sebring
2007-2008 Dodge Nitro
2008 Jeep Liberty, Cherokee
2007-2008 Compass, Patriot
2007-2008 Caliber
2006-2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser

The problem is caused by static discharge that locks up the wireless control module (WCM). This problem may happen more often in dry and cold conditions when static electricity is present. You can reboot or “unlock” the WCM by disconnecting and then reconnecting the battery cables, or you can remove the IOD (make sure the key is out of the ignition switch) and wait 30 seconds before reinstalling it. However, the permanent fix is to replace the WCM with an updated part. To get the new part, you’ll need to copy down the part number of your present WCM and then contact the dealer. The new WCM must be programmed to your keys—something the dealer will do and charge for.
