P0010, P0013 Malibu and Cadillac

Fix for P0010, P0013 Malibu and Cadillac

GM has issued a service bulletin N151702710 to address a P0010, P0013 Malibu and Cadillac issue with the variable valve timing actuators (see the affected vehicles below). If either code is set in the ECM, the fix is to replace the intake or exhaust camshaft position actuator solenoid. The cause is a broken wire in the intake or exhaust camshaft position sensor. It cannot be repair and must be replaced.

Some 2013 model year Cadillac ATS and Chevrolet Malibu vehicles, equipped with a 2.0L or 2.5L engine (RPO’s LTG, LCV).

 

Symptoms: P0010 (Intake Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve Control Circuit) or

P0013 (Exhaust Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve Control Circuit) trouble code set as a result of an internal broken wire in the intake or exhaust camshaft position actuator solenoid.

GM warranty extension covers P0010, P0013 repair costs

From the service bulletin: “This special coverage covers the condition described above for a period of 10 years or 120,000 miles (193,000 km), whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership.”
