P0607 Subaru Impreza Forester Legacy Outback Tribeca

Fix code P0607 Subaru Impreza, Forester, Legacy, Outback, Tribeca

Subaru has issued a technical service bulletin 11-91-08 pertaining to trouble code P0607 on 2004-08 Impreza, 2004-08 Forester, 2005-08 Legacy, 2005-08 Outback and 2006-07 Tribeca. The Check Engine light illuminates and trouble code P0607 Control Module Performance code is stored. In addition, the vehicle goes into fail-safe mode with the throttle valve open at a fixed 6 degrees. You’ll also notice a lack of power. The Check Engine light may go away the next time you start the vehicle, but only if the computer determines the fault is not present for at least 3 startup cycles in a row. Otherwise the Check Engine light and code P0607 will return. The TSB advises you to check all the usual causes for a P0607 trouble code. But add these checks in addition. Check for a rapid drop in voltage due to a dead or dying battery. Check for loose battery cables. Next, check for a poor ground at the powertrain control module (PCM). Finally, check for a short or open in either the power or ground circuit to the PCM. Clear trouble code memory after fixing any faults you find.
