Fix codes P1516 P2135 P2138
GM has issued a technical service bulletin (TSB) 07-06-04-003 to address a problem with a reduced power and REPEATING trouble codes P1516 P2135 P2138 on the following vehicles:
2005-2006 Chevrolet Cobalt, Cobalt SS, Malibu
2006 Chevrolet Colorado, TrailBlazer
2006 GMC Canyon, Envoy
2006 HUMMER H3
2005-2006 Saturn ION, ION Red Line
2006 Saab 9-7X
The codes P1516 Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) Module Throttle Actuator Position Performance, P2135 Throttle Position (TP) Sensor 1-2 Correlation, P2138 Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor 1-2 Correlation, may NOT require replacement. Do NOT start your diagnosis by replacing any of these parts. GM has determined there MAY be a problem with the PCM. So check the build date on the PCM prior to ANY diagnostic procedure.
The serial number on the label on the PCM is read left to right. The last digit is the year it was manufactured is the 9th character, and the Julian date is the 10th, 11th, and 12th characters. illustration (1) for the location of the PCM serial number.
For example: The serial: * 8 6 Y N AU K 1 5 3 2 5 0 R P N was built on the 325th day of 2005. The PCMs affected by the internal fault were built between 5182 and 5304 and should be replaced. If your vehicle’s PCM was built outside of these dates, perform the normal diagnostics for these trouble codes. .
