Advantages of Red Line Synthetic Manual Transmission Oil & Differential Oil

Synthetic Manual Transmission Oil not only provides better oil stability, but it also provides smoother shifts because it’s slipperier and that helps synchronizers engage faster and more smoothly.
But not all synthetic manual transmission oils are actually real synthetics. Some are made from Group III base stocks. Real Group IV polyalphaolefin (PAO) base stock/ester oils will state that in their product description or in their product data sheets.

Here are some synthetic manual transmission oils made by RedLine that are PAO/ester, unless stated otherwise.

Red Line Manual Transmission MT-LV 70W/75W Oil

MT-LV 70W/75W Oil is safe for brass synchros because it doesn’t contain the reactive sulfurs found in most GL-5 oils. Sulfur can eat away at the brass components in your transmission.

Red Line 75W140NS GL-5 Gear Oil

Red Lines’s 75W140NS GL-5 Gear Oil contains all the extreme Red Line 57104_75W140NS_GL-5_Gear_Oil_Quart-mediumpressure additives in their 75W140 GL-5 oil, but without the friction modifiers to balance slipperiness. This oil is designed for historic and vintage transmissions. Use it in mid-1930s to early-1950s synchro-equipped gearboxes in cars and trucks

Red Lines’s 75W140NS GL-5 Gear Oil reduces noise and helps with rough shifting, especially in trouble-prone A-833 Dodge/Plymouth 4-speed transmissions used from 1964 to 1969. Top off 75W90NS or MT-90 to bring viscosity level up and reduce noise.

75W140NS GL-5 Gear Oil is also used in some clutch-type limited slip differentials in racing to provide maximum lock up.
