How to remove power steering pump pulley
If you’re thinking about replacing your power steering pump you’d better be equipped with the right tools to remove power steering pump pulley. Because rebuilt power steering pumps do NOT come with a new pulley. You have to remove the pulley from the old pump and most of them are pressed onto the power steering shaft. That means you need a pulley puller/installer tool. You CANNOT use a jaw type puller. If you do, you’ll damage the pulley. A pump puller tool slides onto a ring on the pulley and uses a screw to pull it off. These kits are less than $40 and can make the difference between an easy pump replacement and a nightmare of a job.
