How to get a cheaper replacement oil filter cap Chrysler, Jeep, Volkswagen

Over torquing the oil filter cap on newer engines can damage them. Your only choice until now has been to buy a replacement oil filter cap from the dealer. Now dorman products now sells a replacement oil filter cap and a fuel filter cap.

Newer engine use a cartridge style oil filter and fuel filter instead of a spin on oil filter. Many of the oil filter caps are made of plastic with an O-ring seal. If you over torque the cap when installing a new filter, you damage the seal and the flange and can strip the hex head bolt molded into the plastic.
