P0741, P0742, P0841, P1756, P1758, P1882, Car in drive but wont move or reverse, Saturn ION, Vue
Saturn has issued a technical service bulletin (TSB) #04-07-30-024E to address transmission problems and trouble codes on the following vehicles:
2002 Saturn VUE – Retrofitted with a 2003 or 2004 VT25E (VTi) Transaxle (RPO M16/M75)
2003-2004 Saturn ION
2003-2005 Saturn VUE with VT25E (VTi)
If you own one of these vehicles and find that the vehicle doesn’t move when you place it in Drive or Reverse or you hear an audible grinding noise, or see the Service Engine Soon light on with any of these trouble codes P0741, P0742, P0841, P1756, P1758, or P1882, the problem may be caused by a VT25E transaxle belt that has malfunctioned.
To fix the problem, disassemble and clean the debris from the transaxle. Inspect the front differential, drive pinion, and front carrier ring gear for wear or damage. Then inspect the bearings and drive pinion bearing cup for damage. Next, rotate the differential housing several times to check for a knocking sound or gear binding cause by nicks or chips on the gears. Replace all worn or damaged parts and reassemble.
