Audi has issued a service bulletin to address an inoperative Audi fresh air blower on the models listed below

2012 A4 Ingolstadt VIN range 000001-096029
2012 A4 Neckarsulm VIN range 00001-015389
2008-2011 A5 VIN range 00001-999999
2012 A5 VIN range 00001-016109
2009-2011 Q5 VIN range 00001-060834
2010-2011 A5 Cab VIN range 00001-999999
2012 A5 Cab VIN range 00001-003976
Check for these trouble codes when the Audi fresh air blower fails
01844 004 (Control module for fresh air blower J126 No signal/communication)
01644 014 (Control module for fresh air blower J126 Faulty)
01273 009 (Fresh air blower -V2- Open / Short circuit to ground)
01273 006 (Fresh air blower -V2- Short circuit to B+)
Audi has found that the problem can be caused by either a faulty printed circuit board in the fresh air blower control module or a problem with the carbon brushes in the brush holder. Audi has found that the brushes bind in the holder and lose contact with the motor commutator of the fresh air blower.
To correct the problem, Audi has revised the fresh air blower control module and released an improved brush assembly
If you scan the trouble codes and find either of these trouble codes:
01844004 (Control module for fresh air blower J126 No signal/communication)
01844014 (Control module for fresh air blower J126 Faulty)
Replace the fresh air blower controller module
If you scan the trouble codes and find either of these trouble codes:
01273 009 (Fresh air blower -V2- Open / Short circuit to ground)
01273 006 (Fresh air blower -V2- Short circuit to B+)
Replace the fresh air blower
If you find trouble codes for both the controller and the fresh air blower, replace both.
