Car Won’t Start — Where to begin
Let’s get out terms straight. When you turn the key and the starter engages and rotates the engine, that’s referred to as CRANKING. After cranking, an engine in good shape FIRES UP and runs.
Knowing that, let’s take this step by step.
No cranking, no noise
If you turn the key to START and nothing happens and you hear no noise; no clicking or whirring from the engine, go here for troubleshooting advice.
No cranking, but a single click, multiple clicks, rapid clicks

Engine cranking but won’t fire up
