DRL bulb replacement
How to perform a DRL bulb replacement
If you’re looking for an inexpensive DRL bulb replacement, this may be your answer. Daytime running lights (DRL) are designed in many different ways. Some car makers use the regular headlight bulbs and run the current through a resistor to reduce current consumption during daylight hours. However, when the vehicle is equipped with HID headlights, they cannot reduce power to those bulbs. So they use a separate DRL bulb. When those bulbs burn out, some dealers only sell the compete assembly. However, if you’re willing to so some buying online, you might find just the bulb.
For example, you can buy just the bulb for an 09 Saturn Outlook from these guys interlight.biz.
The #7010 16w 13.5v bulb is $27—a lot less that a complete headlight assembly
