GM has issued a service bulletin N192210240 to address P0496, P0492, P0455 trouble codes on the vehicle listed below. Bulletin N192210240 includes special warranty coverage adjustment for free repair of the problem if it meets certain conditions.
Cause of P0496, P0492, P0455
GM has determined that the vehicles listed below may have a condition where the evaporative emissions purge valve does not fully close. When this happens, it causes the engine to run rough, hesitate or stall at idle speeds. Additionally, the Check Engine Light will illuminate and a diagnostic trouble code would be set.

Special coverage for free repair of P0496, P0492, P0455
GM is extending special coverage for this problem for a period of 10 years or 150,000 miles (240,000 km) for Acadia, Cascada, Enclave, Traverse, vehicles or 10 years or 120,000 miles (193,000 km) for Caprice, Cruze, Encore, Impala, LaCrosse, Sonic and Trax vehicles, whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership.
If you already replace the parts mentioned below, you may be eligible for reimbursement. According to the bulletin, “The conditional right to reimbursement is provided by GM solely in the interest of customer satisfaction and is personal to Customers. Customers may not assign and GM does not consent to any assignment of any Customer’s right to submit reimbursement claims, or to receive reimbursement, or any other rights granted by this Special Coverage to any third party, including but not limited to service contract providers, and this Special Coverage is not intended to and does not confer any third-party beneficiary, subrogation or contribution rights, or any other rights to reimbursement, against GM, whether in law, equity or otherwise, on any third parties.”
How to get a free purge valve replacement
You must have the condition diagnosed by a GM dealer. If the fault is diagnosed as a purge valve, the dealer will replace it for free if you’re within the extended special coverage limits. GM will provide you with a loaner vehicle while the repair is being made.
