Diagnose and fix a Hyundai runs rough condition
Late model Hyundai vehicles may suffer from a Hyundai runs rough condition where you also see a check engine light and pull misfire codes P0300 through P0304. Shops report that worn spark plugs and faulty coil on plug ignition coils are usually the cause.
Test a Hyundai COP ignition coil
If you get specific cylinder misfire codes, one way to check for a bad coil is
to swap that coil into a cylinder that’s not reporting a misfire code. Clear the trouble codes and take it for a test drive. If the check engine light turns on and you now have a misfire code in the new cylinder, which confirms the problem is the ignition coil, not the spark plug in the first location.
You can also test the ignition coil using a ohmmeter. Unplug the coil connector and set your meter to the Ohms scale. The coil spec is 0.75Ω ± 15%
