Chrysler has issued a technical service bulletin (TSB) 08-022-07 to address a problem with the courtesy and liftgate ajar lights illuminating intermittently along with an intermittent chime tone. The TSB applies to the following vehicles.
2007 – 2008 Nitro
2008 Cherokee (International)
2007 – 2008 Grand Cherokee
2007 – 2008 Grand Cherokee (International Markets)
2006 – 2008 Commander
2006 – 2008 Commander (International markets)
2006 – 2007 Durango
2008 Caravan/Town & Country
The problem has be traced to intermittent contact of the liftgate open sensing wire closing to ground. Chrysler details the following procedure to correct the problem.
Start by disconneting the 2-way liftgate ajar connector. Next, with the ignition key in the RUN position, measure the voltage at cavity 1 of the connector. If the voltage is above 10-volts, this bulletin does not apply and you must follow the instructions in the factory shop manual to diagnose the cause. If the voltage is less than 10-volts, turn the ignition to OFF and swap the wires in the 2-way connector. Cavity 1 should contain the liftgate ajar sense circuit wire and cavity 2 should now be the ground wire.
