Ford has issued a service bulletin #12-3-19 to address P144A, P2196, P2198, P1A0C codes on the vehicles listed below. The affected vehicles may have a leaking or stuck purge valve that triggers the trouble codes listed above. The Ford bulletin address what to do if you have any of these trouble codes.

Diagnose P144A, P2196, P2198, P1A0C codes

Start by removing the evaporative emission charcoal canister. Examine the canister for liquid fuel. Turn the canister over and looks for liquid fuel leaking out. If you find liquid fuel, replace the canister and perform further diagnostics to locate the source of the fuel leaking into the canister (new parts numbers show below). If the test shows no liquid fuel, replace the purge valve.
