Cheaper camshaft phaser

Car makers use a camshaft phaser to alter cam timing through various RPM and torque modes. The camshaft phaser uses oil pressure to advance or retard the camshaft to change valve timing. However, using the wrong oil, the wrong oil viscosity, or going too long on an oil change can cause the camshaft phaser to wear out prematurely or clog with oil sludge. Once that happens, your only option is replacement.

You can buy a new camshaft phaser from the dealer for about $170, or you can buy an aftermarket unit from Dorman Products and save quite a bit. The Dorman 917-274 fits the following vehicles.
