Reset oil light Chrysler

How to Reset oil light Chrysler

If you own a later model Chrysler product and want to reset the oil light, read this post first. The Reset oil light Chrysler is different on late model vehicle.

Older oil change lights were simply mileage reminders. That’s not the case with newer vehicles. They’re based on your actual usage. They track how many cold starts you’ve made since the last oil change. They track how long you drive your car, in what conditions (winter or summer), and under what load (heavy foot or trailer towing). Based on that information, the computer determines how well your oil is holding up.

Here’s what to know about the latest Chrysler oil life monitoring system.

The CHANGE OIL message will flash in the instrument cluster odometer for approximately 12 seconds, after a single chime has sounded, to indicate the next scheduled oil change interval.

Unless reset, this message will continue to display each time you turn the ignition switch to the ON/RUN position.

To turn off the message temporarily, press and release Trip/Odometer Display reset button on the instrument cluster.

To reset the change indicator system after an oil change, perform these steps:

1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (do not start the engine).

2. Fully depress the accelerator pedal, slowly, three times within 10 seconds.

3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF/LOCK position.

NOTE: If the indicator message illuminates when you start the engine, the oil change indicator system did not reset. If necessary, repeat these steps.
