Why is Service Stabilitrak Traction system off TCS light on

If you own a Cadillac XLR-V and have a Service Stabilitrak, Traction system off, message or TCS light is on, this article may help you.

GM has issued a service bulletin for the 2006 Cadillac XLR-V 2006 and 2007-08 built before Sept 1, 2007. These vehicles may display a Service Stabilitrak, Traction system off, message or TCS light is on. The messages may be intermittent or on full time. In addition to the messages and lights, the computer may store a C0561 trouble code.

The problem may be caused by the electronic brake control module (EBCM) incorrectly receiving and processing the brake pedal position rolling count signal, transmitted from the body control module. Do NOT replace parts. The fix is a software update.  Have the dealer or shop install an updated calibration file.
