Why HID bulb is different color
Why is my new HID headlight bulb a different color
If your vehicle is equipped with Xenon high intensity discharge (HID) headlights and you’ve recently replaced a bulb, you may notice that the light color is slightly different than the bulb on the other side of the vehicle. New HID bulbs have a color temperature of approximately 4150°K. As a bulb is used, the color shifts to the “bluer” color range of 4,300°K. When first installed, the new bulb will cast a light that is a bit more yellow/white than blue/white. It takes approximately 200 hours for the new bulb to gradually shift towards the bluer 4,300° temperature. Be prepared for a difference in headlight colors during this break-in period.
