How much oil to add to AC

Here’s how much oil to add to AC

The general rule of thumb on how much oil to add to AC

When you replace a major AC component, you must add oil to the system. Use the exact oil specified by the carmaker and don’t overdo it. Too much oil will reduce cooling performance because it coats the walls of the condenser and evaporator and reduces heat transfer. Too little oil, on the other hand, can cause damage to the compressor.

  • Compressor = 1.4 ounces
  • Evaporator = 1.5 ounces
  • Condenser = 1 ounces
  • Accumulator = 1 ounces
  • Hoses = 1 ounces

Refer to this link for total system charge and total oil capacity.
