Gas gauge is erratic – GM

GM has issued a technical service bulletin (TSB) 06-08-49-008A to deal with an Erratic fuel gauge on the following vehicles:

2006 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx
2006 Pontiac G6 with 3.5L Engine
Built Prior to January 12, 2006

If you find that the fuel gauge fuel gauge operation is erratic (does not go to Full or moves off Full too quickly), the cause may be the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) calibration. However, before updating the PCM, you must first update the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve. Refer to TSB 06-06-04-002A to find the correct EGR
Replacement. Then find an shop that is capable of updating the PCM with the latest software.
