How to fix a Ford ABS light on and Traction control light flashing – TSB fix
Use this TSB to fix a Ford ABS light on and Traction control light flashing, Ford has issued a service bulletin #12-11-18 to address the problem. In addition to an ABS light on and Traction control light flashing issue, you may also have several trouble codes stored:
C1278 Steering Wheel Angle 1 and 2 Signal Faulted
C1280 Yaw Rate Sensor Signal Fault
C1282 Lateral Accelerometer Signal Fault
C1963 Stability Control Inhibit Warning
Ford has found that some 2009-2012 F-150 and 2010-2012 F-150 Raptor vehicles built on or before 6/10/2012 may exhibit the ABS light on and Traction control light flashing condition. You may also encounter false activation of the stability control system when driving at low speeds during turning while towing a trailer.
Ford has updated the software for the ABS module and it’s designed to eliminate the a ABS light on and Traction control light flashing. Do NOT replace any parts until you’ve had the software updated.
Software updates aren’t free. Get yours updated at any Ford dealer or independent shop that has reprogramming capabilities.
