Honda alarm going off at night

Cause of Honda alarm going off at night

A Honda alarm going off at night is almost always caused by a failing hood switch or door switch. The reason it goes off at night is due to temperature change that causes the contacts to contract, or corrosion inside the switch. These switches complete the path to ground to complete the circuit and trigger the alarm.

Find which switch is causing the Honda alarm going off at night condition

There are two ways to troubleshoot this problem. The first is to disconnect the connector to one switch at a time until the problem disappears. Then replace that switch. Start with the hood switch since it’s exposed to more rain and saltwater and is more likely to corrode. If that doesn’t work, disconnect the driver’s door switch since that’s used most often.

The second way to diagnose this is to connect a scan tool. The computer stores which switch initiated the alarm.
