If you’ve replaced any part of your hydraulic power steering system, the power steering now has air bubbles that create a moaning sound. You have to remove the air from the system and the best way to do that is with a hand-held vacuum pump. Vacuum is the factory-approved method to bleed power steering and brakes.
Car makers no longer recommend turning the steering wheel lock-to-lock. Doing that builds up to 2,000psi and can burst a hose or seal. Plus, it isn’t as effective in getting the air out.

Simply wedge the Mitivac MVA660 into the power steering fluid reservoir and apply vacuum. That’ll draw all the air out of the power steering rack, lines, cooler and pump.
How to use a vacuum to bleed brakes
Simply attach a hose to the lid of the plastic collector cup in
Hand-held vacuum pump, collector cup and bleed hose
the kit. Then run a second hose to the caliper or wheel cylinder bleed screw. Pump the vacuum pump and loosen the bleed screw to suck the fluid out of the caliper or wheel cylinder.
