Jeep P2015 code — What it means and how to fix it
How to fix a Jeep P2015 code by checking the intake manifold runner system
A Jeep P2015 code is common, and it can be a DIY fix. Start by removing the intake manifold runner control (IMRC) motor from the intake manifold. If the motor is stuck in the manifold, you’ll have to replace the entire intake manifold. If the motor comes off, try moving the intake manifold runner flaps manually. If they move, continue your diagnostics by checking the voltages at the IMRC motor connector.
If the IMRC doesn’t move or doesn’t move easily, it’s usually due to carbon buildup or a deformed intake manifold. It’s not easy to remove the carbon buildup and most shops simply replace the manifold and IMRC assembly.
• Yellow/pink wire is the sensor reference voltage. With the key in the RUN position, it should read 5.0 volts
• Dark Blue/Dark Green wire is the sensor ground wire. It should read less than 50 mV.
• Yellow/Dark Blue wire is the signal. When unplugged from the intake manifold runner control motor it should have about 5 volts present. When plugged in and driving, the voltage will vary.
• Brown/Violet wire is the voltage for the motor. It is provided by the PCM and is pulse width modulated.
• Black/White is the ground for the motor
What causes a Jeep P2015 code
In some cases, it’s just a bad intake runner control motor. However, excess carbon buildup in the intake can cause the IMRC to bind. If you can’t clean all the carbon, replace the entire intake manifold.
