What is an FNC Brake Rotor An FNC brake rotor has been specially treated to resist rust. The process is called Ferritic Nitrocarburizing. GM started using FNC rotors in 2011 and by 2016, FNC rotors were used on over 80% of all GM vehicles. FNC brake rotors are made using an additional heat treating step where the rotors are heated to 560° for 24-hours in an oven filled with nitrogen.
