Sway bar end link replacement
Sway bar end link replacement is a an easy DIY job
Sway bar end link replacement is not a complicated repair. You can do it yourself in your driveway. You’ll have to get it up on jack stands and remove the wheels. You can waste a lot of time and sweat trying to remove the rusted threaded nut on each end of the shaft, but that’s the hard way. If you want to get this job done without breaking a sweat, invest in a cheap rotary tool and cut off wheel or this one from Harbor Freight ($30).
If you’re having it done at a shop, it’s a bit cheaper if you replace both sway bar end links when you’re having your struts replaced. The tech has to remove the top part of the link to remove the strut in most vehicle, so ask the shop for a combo price on struts and links.
Example of the cost to replace two end links on a 2016 Subaru Outback
There is nothing unique about a 2016 Subaru Outback. I picked this vehicle because the cost to replace the end links on this vehicle is representative of most vehicles
