Why your car’s power outlet stopped working
The 2 most common reasons why your car’s power outlet stopped working
A blown fuse or coins stuck in the port are the two most common reasons why your car’s power outlet stopped working
Your car’s power outlet isn’t working because the fuse is blown
Power ports are usually fused by an 8, 10 or 12-amp fuse. In late model cars, they may be fused with up to a 20-amp fuse. So checking the fuse for the power port is the first step. I have some fuse diagrams on this site. Check here to see if your vehicle is listed. If not, refer to your owner’s manual for layout and fuse listing for your vehicle. Check the list for “power port,” “power outlet,” or “cigar lighter.”
