GM service bulletin #PIP5446A and harsh shift

GM has issued a service bulletin #PIP5446A to address a harsh shift, rough idle and sputter and the following trouble codes P0101 P0171 P0172 P0174 P0175 on the vehicles listed below. The harsh shift is happening on the 1-2 and 2-3 shift points. GM has determined that excessive flashing in the air filter housing near the MAF sensor is causing air disturbance that provides false MAF readings to the ECM.

Fix for harsh shift

GM advises inspecting for excessive flashing near the MAF sensor. If this is found replace the air filter housing lid, be sure to check for flashing in the new lid.
