P012B code on F150 — Most likely causes
Learn what a P012B code is, the most likely causes, and how to diagnose and fix it
A P012B code on a Ford F150 with a turbocharged 3.5L engine is a somewhat common problem. The code is defined as Turbocharged/Supercharger Inlet Pressure Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance. You may also see a P012C code which is Turbocharged/Supercharger Inlet Pressure Sensor A Circuit Low.
The most common cause
In most cases, the cause of a P012B code or a P012C is a bad Turbocharged/Supercharger Inlet Pressure Sensor. But it can also be a bad connector. So diagnose the problem with a DVOM before you start throwing parts at the problem. Using the wiring diagram below, test for a good reference and ground voltage at the connector
Diagnose a P012B code and a P012C code
You’ll be testing for the presence of a reference voltage and ground voltage on the connector with it disconnected from the sensor (key in RUN, but engine not running)
• Set your DVOM to DC volts
• Connect black lead to ground
• Touch the red lead to the yellow/green
wire (pin#1 in the connector). If you see reference voltage, that confirms the wire is good.
• Next, using a computer-safe test light, check for good ground on the yellow/violet wire on pin #2. If that’s good, you’ve proven that the wiring is good.
• Replace the sensor
There’s a Ford TSB 14-0082 for 2013 F150s
This bulletin covers the following codes:
P012B
P012D
The bulletin requires replacing both the connector and the sensor with updated parts.
BU2Z-14S411-ATA Pigtail assembly
CV2Z-9F479-A Sensor assembly
