Chrysler Interference Engines List: Everything You Need to Know

Chrysler Interference engines list and engines that are Non Interference Engines list

Most late model Chrysler engines are interference, meaning the valves and pistons will collide and destroy the engine if the timing belt or timing chain fails. Some examples include the 2.4L 4-cylinder in the 200, Sebring, and PT Cruiser; the 2.7L V6 in earlier LH cars and trucks; the 3.2L, 3.5L and 3.7L V6 Pentastar; and the 5.7L Hemi V8. This post contains a Chrysler interference engine list.

The timing belts in interference engines need regular replacement per the manufacturer’s schedule (typically every 60k-100k miles) to avoid failure. Neglecting this maintenance on an interference engine risks bent valves, piston/cylinder wall damage, etc.

Interference engines require precise timing between pistons and valves, so regular oil changes and not skipping maintenance is strongly recommended. Using the specified oil helps chains/belts last.
