Honda Fit stalls when cold — valve adjustment
If you encounter a Honda Fit stalls when cold situation you may need to perform a Honda Fit valve adjustment. These vehicles are known to need a Honda Fit valve adjustment around the 70,000 mile mark.
Honda Fit valve adjustment procedure
Remove the valve cover
Set the #1 piston to top dead center using a socket and ratchet on the harmonic balancer
Using a feeler gauge, wrench and flat blade screwdriver, set the intake and exhaust valve clearances to specs:
Intake 0.15-0.19mm (0.006-0.007″) Exhaust 0.26-0.30mm (0.0102-0.0118″)
Set valve clearance for cylinder #3
Rotate the crankshaft clockwise until the #3 shows on the sprocket. Then line up the horizontal mark on the sprocket with the edge of the head. Check and adjust valve clearances for cylinder #3 using the specs above.
Set valve clearance for cylinder #4
Rotate the crankshaft clockwise until the #4 shows on the sprocket. Then line up the horizontal mark on the sprocket with the edge of the head. Check and adjust valve clearances for cylinder #4 using the specs above.
Set valve clearance for cylinder #2
Rotate the crankshaft clockwise until the #4 shows on the sprocket. Then line up the horizontal mark on the sprocket with the edge of the head. Check and adjust valve clearances for cylinder #2 using the specs above.
