Honda Fit Battery Light On, P154A Code: Causes and Solutions

A defective Honda battery sensor can cause a P154A Code

Honda has issued service bulletin 16-026 to address a Honda Fit Battery Light on and a P154A code on some 2015-16 Honda Fit vehicles with the VIN numbers below. The P154A trouble code is defined as Battery Sensor Internal Failure.

The battery sensor is installed between the battery and ground and monitors battery voltage and temperature. It is an analog-to-digital sensor that communicates battery state back to the PCM in digital form. A P154A means the sensor has failed internally. When this happens, the PCM lights the Battery light.

Honda update for the battery sensor

To fix the problem the Honda service bulletin 16-026 states to replace the sensor with an updated part #38920-T5A-A02
