Resolve a Service Stability Message and C0710 Code
Troubleshooting a Service Stability Message and C0710 Code
GM has issued multiple service bulletins to fix issues with unwanted stability activation and service stability messages. This problem appears as an unwanted stability control activation, a Service Stability Message, and a C0710 Code. GM Service Bulletin #PIT4322H relates only to unwanted stability activation, but the links listed below refer to other GM stability control issues. Needless to say, GM has problems with its stability control.
GM service bulletin #PIT4322H
This bulletin addresses unwanted stability activation, a Service Stability Message, and a C0710 Code on the vehicles listed below. A C0710 code relates to the steering position signal. However, if the vehicle has been lifted or lowered, had different-size wheels installed, or had a different steering gear installed, these modifications can cause unwanted stability activation. To prevent unwanted stability activation, remove the modifications.
Vehicles affected by service bulletin #PIT4322H
2007-2013Cadillac Escalade EXT
2007-2018Cadillac Escalade
2007-2013Chevrolet Avalanche
2007-2018Chevrolet Silverado

2007-2018Chevrolet Tahoe

2007-2018GMC Yukon
If the vehicle has NOT been modified, continue with these checks
Check to ensure all tires are the same size and tire pressure.

A steering angle sensor is mounted near the bottom of the steering column and reports the driver’s intended path to the traction control and stability control systems
Next, check the operation of the steering position sensor. Connect a scan tool and check that digital signals for steering position Phase A and Phase B move up and down between high and low as you rotate the wheel.
In addition to the high low sweep, steering position signal A should be 2.5-volts when he steering wheel is in the straight ahead position. As you rotate the wheel, the voltage should range between 0.8 and 3.8-volts. The Yaw rate sensor should read 2.5-volts when the vehicle is standing still. Jostling the vehicle will change the voltage. Lateral acceleration value should be 0-ft/lbs.
If the steering position readings are off, perform a steering position sensor calibration or replace the steering position sensor. In most cases, the steering position sensor is at fault for a C0710 code
